The Latest from the Creative Labs of Elevate
Three years since launching in 2005, the Elevate became the largest single screen film festival in the world, hosting up to 6000 people per screening. The annual event has generated international acclaim, earning overwhelming support from Hollywood, including Kevin Costner, Jeff Goldblum, Alanis Morissette, Black Eyed Peas, India Arie, Mario Van Peebles, Derek Luke, and numerous industry icons.
For the first three years, the festival was thriving, and then, in 2008, it stopped. “Few could understand why we would consciously end an event that had just been named the ‘largest single screen film event worldwide’ and was on track to becoming a thriving enterprise,” says Mikki, “The reason was simple: our mission is to activate measurable and lasting change globally. Though our next festival was scheduled to play before an audience of 12k at the prestigious Hollywood Bowl, that wouldn’t scratch the surface of our global mission. We knew we had to adjust our focus.”
They also adjusted their environment. The Elevate Family left the pulsing creative scene of downtown LA and relocated to the serene and spiritually-friendly city of Ojai. They live & work there, in their mansion named “Elevate Home“, they live, work and host/produce extraordinary events such as Ecotopia, Larisa Stow’s “Raising the Shakti” and magical evenings such as Chocolate’ Divino (Divine Chocolate).
Today, Elevate came out with an extraordinary announcement. Today they introduced Thrive & PlayItForward. Thrive is an “unconventional documentary that lifts the veil on what’s REALLY going on in our world by following the money upstream — uncovering the global consolidation of power in nearly every aspect of our lives. Weaving together breakthroughs in science, consciousness and activism, THRIVE offers real solutions, empowering us with unprecedented and bold strategies for reclaiming our lives and our future.”

Alongside the movie announcement was another announcement, finally putting an end to the question marks around Elevate’s choices over the last few years. Elevate unveiled PlayItFWD, a “revolutionary online platform that allows you to watch elevating movies and gift them to your friends and family. PlayItFWD makes it easy to share movies that inspire you with the people that you love. Using this platform users may gift pre-paid rentals through email or social networks like Facebook and Twitter.”
What a wonderful and wonderfully effective way to virally spread elevating messages and promote conscious living! I wish Mikki & his team all the success in the world!
